OUR FOUNDER'S STORY

Gateway to Success was founded by Karen Morgenthaler, LCSW, LAC, DVCS, a passionate advocate for integrated care and trauma-informed healing. With more than 15 years of experience in behavioral health services, Karen created Gateway as a place where people can access multiple levels of care in one supportive, community-centered setting.

She holds a Master of Social Work from Newman University and a Bachelor’s in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminology from Colorado State University–Pueblo. Karen is a licensed clinical social worker, licensed addiction counselor, and a DVOMB-approved clinical supervisor. In addition to leading Gateway, she serves on state-level committees, including the Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) board and the Domestic Violence Offender Management Board (DVOMB), where she has chaired the Application Review Committee since 2018.

Her vision remains clear: to reduce recidivism, increase safety, and improve lives through accessible, person-centered care. Today, her mission lives on in every client we serve and every step forward we help them take.
